Coaching Background and Experience
Richard is entering his ninth year as a head coach for the Westside Breakers Soccer Club. He has coached every age level from U11 to U19 and currently coaches three teams in the club. Richard has worked his way to become one of the outstanding club and high school coaches in all of Southern California. Last season, his U13s and U14s both won their Silver Brackets to earn promotion and his U15s finished in 2nd place in Silver Elite North to qualify for the Gold bracket this season. In addition, Richard's Harvard-Westlake girls varsity team won the CIF Div. II Championship.
In addition to working with the Breakers, Richard currently works as the Director of Girls’ Soccer at the prestigious Harvard-Westlake School in North Hollywood. Richard is the Varsity head coach and oversees both middle school "A" and "B" teams and the high school’s Junior Varsity team. In 2005-2006 Richard led the Wolverines to an unprecedented run to the CIF Division I Finals and the team finished the season ranked #17 in the nation (previously unranked). Richard was voted the CIF Division I Southern Section Coach of the Year and the Daily News Girls’ Soccer Coach of the Year for his work with the Wolverines that season. In addition, Richard was also previously the Head of Boys Soccer for Westmark School, Head of Girls Soccer for Immaculate Heart High School and spent two seasons as the Head of Girls Soccer at Crossroads School in Santa Monica. Richard holds a USSF National "C" License and resides in Culver City.
