Breakers U13 White Win Flight 1 at the NHB Cup
The Westside Breakers Girls Under 13 White team coached by Richard Simms won flight 1 of the NHB Cup tournament August 28-29 in Huntington Beach, California. The girls fought back from an early 1-0 deficit in the final against Laguna Hills Eclipse and scored two goals to earn the championship trophy.
Also at the NHB Cup, the Girls U13 Blue coached by Joe Pehanich and the Breakers Girls U12 White coached by Mike Page made it to the championship game each came up short in the finals. Finally, the U10 team coached by Ryan Hosler were a finalist at the FC Bayern Junior Cup that same weekend. Congratulations to all four teams on a great weekend!
U16 White Win Flight 1 at West Coast FC Classic
The Westside Breakers U16 White team beat the defending National Cup Champions Arsenal FC in the opening game of the WCFC Classic, July 21-22 on their way to an incredible tournament victory. Five of CSL’s U16 Premier Division vied for the title but it was the Breakers (new to CSL Gold in 2010) who came away with the trophy.
Having to play three elimination games in 6 hours on the final day of the tournament, the Breakers showed their incredible resolve and improving fitness to win 2 PK shootouts and defeat another Premier team, South Bay Force Black in the Championship game.
The Breakers put themselves on the map with this victory and will now aim to maintain this momentum for the great challenge of the U16 Gold division if the fall.
